The Steinberg Institute (SI), a leading advocacy organization in California working to upend the status quo and dramatically raise the profile and increase the effectiveness of mental health policymaking in California, seeks a Social Media and Content Manager (SMCM). The SMCM will assist with SI’s communications and marketing efforts to promote our policy and legislative agenda and research; increase engagement with our followers, partners and supporters; boost our social media profile; and increase our impact and expand our reach.
Working with the Director of Communications and the SI team, the SMCM will produce digital content to amplify and promote SI’s legislative agenda, research, blogposts and events; issue press releases, maintain press lists and liaise with reporters; post copy and make changes to the SI website; produce newsletters; and assist in the drafting of op-eds, speeches, and other external communications.
This role is perfect for a resourceful, creative individual who has a passion for public policy and for advancing access to mental health services and social and racial equity; a knack for writing accessibly; at least two years of experience working in communications, marketing, journalism or media relations; and a track record working with digital communications tools.
The salary range for this position is commensurate with training and experience. As a result, the pay range is between $65,000-$75,000 annually for a more seasoned professional. The institute provides a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, professional development, parking/commuter assistance, paid time off; and retirement. This full time, exempt position is based in our Sacramento office (when we’re able to return safely).
