An unvarnished and unflinching look at San Diego County’s mental health crisis

Steinberg Institute Director of Communications Jason Shoultz joins San Diego County Director of Behavioral Health Luke Bergmann and San Deigo Union Tribute Reporter/Editor Lyndsay Winkley to discuss 72 hours: Inside San Diego County’s mental health crisis. The three-part series, published by the Union-Tribune in April, explores the county’s strained systems addressing the mental health crisis.

The series is required reading for anyone interested in better understanding the challenges facing behavioral health systems across the state. Bergmann and Winkley provide a behind-the-scenes look at the series and dig into some of the challenges and solutions to the current crisis. We’re grateful for their insights and appreciate them both joining us for the discussion.
