There is no more serious problem in California than the unacceptable number of people who are homeless on our streets and suffering from severe mental illness. How do we protect them from the deadly harms they face? How do we ensure they get the services they need? These are vexing and difficult questions — but questions that we must answer.
On Weds. Jan. 13, the Steinberg Institute convened an online webinar to explore these issues with an all-star cast of California leaders: Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Senator Henry Stern, Los Angeles County Supervisors Kathryn Barger, and Holly Mitchell, and Jonathan Sherin, director of Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health.
