Corey Hashida joins the Steinberg Institute as Senior Advocate

We are excited to announce an important addition to the Steinberg Institute team. Corey Hashida joins the Steinberg Institute as Senior Advocate.

Corey will work with fellow Senior Advocate Tara Gamboa-Eastman on our legislative, policy and budget priorities. This year we are tackling key initiatives to rebuild our mental health and substance use workforce, implement the new 988 crisis line and update the Mental Health Services Act to ensure its impact is fully realized.

Corey comes to the institute from the nonpartisan California Legislative Analyst’s Office. There, he advised the state legislature on fiscal and policy issues related to a variety of health care topics, including brain health. He also holds professional experience in several other areas, including providing direct services and instruction to young adults with various developmental disabilities.

He strongly believes in the importance of empathy in policymaking and is thrilled to focus his energy on raising awareness of and improving brain health for all Californians.

A San Francisco Bay Area native, Corey is an avid fan of the Oakland Athletics and is fluent in American Sign Language. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in economics from the University of California, Irvine and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Southern California. He loves his cat, Suki, very much.

We’re thrilled to welcome Corey to the team. He can be reached at corey@steinberginstitute.org.
