Program to include a performance and mental health discussion with musician The Philharmonik (Christian Gates)
SACRAMENTO (December 19, 2024) – The Steinberg Institute announced a major convening on Thursday, titled the Vision 2030 Solution Symposium, to take place on February 25, 2025 in Sacramento. The event will bring together leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, and advocates from across the state to celebrate a decade of progress in mental health and substance use reform while looking ahead to the Institute’s Vision 2030 agenda.
The symposium will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions designed to mobilize leaders from across the behavioral health and substance use sectors. Sacramento-based award-winning musician The Philharmonik (Christian Gates) will perform, as well as participate in a discussion with former Mayor Steinberg about the importance of mental health.
Programming will be organized into four pillars: homelessness, hospitalization, incarceration and workforce. The symposium’s four pillars are also the foundation of the Steinberg Institute’s Vision 2030 agenda, which has four main goals:
- Reduce the number of unhoused people with mental illness or substance use disorder by half.
- Reduce the number of people entering hospital emergency departments due to behavioral health crises by half.
- Reduce the number of people with mental illness entering the criminal justice system by half.
- Modernize and strengthen California’s behavioral health workforce to meet the diverse needs of the entire state.
Participants will engage in forward-thinking discussions aimed at accomplishing these goals and catalyzing real, measurable change for California’s behavioral health system.
“Now is the time to come together as a community of visionaries and changemakers to address our most pressing behavioral health challenges,” said Chief Executive Officer Karen Larsen. “Our Vision 2030 agenda sets bold targets, and this symposium will be an opportunity for influential leaders in the behavioral health sector to discuss innovative strategies to achieve those goals.”
Event Details:

- Time: 8:30am – 6:00pm
