This World Mental Health Day, October 10, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) is declaring “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,” by selecting this tagline as the theme for a global campaign. The campaign calls on employees, employers, and stakeholders to engage in prioritizing mental health across all sectors, promoting workplaces that protect and support mental health.

Next month we will say a bittersweet goodbye to Maggie Merritt as she departs the Steinberg Institute after a decade of service. Maggie is off to grand adventures in this next chapter of her life but we can’t let her leave without acknowledging her unwavering passion and commitment to the Institute. On Saturday, Simone Biles won her third Paris Olympics gold medal (her 10th Olympic gold medal as a gymnast). She called this her redemption tour after withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympic Games just three years ago, citing mental health concerns and “the twisties,” a disconnect between the mind and body. Ever since, she has put in the work, not just in the gym, but also in therapy.
